Isles of ScillyTresco

Tresco is the second largest of the islands and is actually privately leased by Robert and Lucy Dorrien Smith.

Known as the 'island of flowers' has more of an exclusive, tropical feel than an Anglo-French one.

Visit the world famous Tresco Abbey Garden, which boasts more than 300 exotic plants, more usually found in New Zealand and South America.

Nowhere else in the UK will you find such an unusual rnage of plants growing outdoors, mingling with sculptures which symbolise the unusual weather in this part of the country.

There are three castles to explore on Tresco and the tropical backdrop is perfect for outdoor activities such as tennis, swimming in an outdoor pool, windsurfing or canoeing.

Why not hire a boat and enjoy the view from the sea or simply enjoy the miles of sandy, white beaches.

Forget cars - there are none here- a tractor bus will transport passengers from the heliport or the quayside.

Stay in one of the hotels or rent a cottage and even pre-order food supplies to be delivered to your door on arrival.
And the real beauty is you don't need a passport - incredibly, this tropical paradise is part of Britain.
